The sweet revenge
This is could be a late post as the movie was released two years ago!!!
"..Ohh you didn't
watch the movie yet??!!! Ok come lets watch it today." That will make it
the fifth time I will be watching the movie. I watched it before all the awards
were announced for the movie. Well, that's not a big deal, all of us do it, is
what you might be thinking and it is true. For me, the movie is special and the
first review I heard about it is that it can be reciprocated to a beautiful
short story. Beauty, which is imbibed in all the frames. The shades of green,
which is a treat to the eyes.
The story is set in the
district of Idukki, Kerala. What makes it interesting to me is the thread of
realism that is woven in the storyline. Right from the name of the characters
that are Christians, but do not keep conventional Christian names. That is how
it is there form what I have observed. The people there are the epitome of
innocence, pristine like the place. The characters in the movie show the true
colour of the place with minimal makeup of course. The most interesting thing
in the movie is a scene where there is a clear reference to the old Malayalam
proverb 'unnan vilikumbozha ashrarikk kott koodunath’ (the carpenter works the
most when it is time for lunch). This came as a revelation to me the fifth time
I watched the movie.
All these have made me
fall in love with the movie over and again. That will be my revenge to the
sweet revenge aka 'Maheshinte Prathikaram'.
